British trainers have had some great success at the Punchestown festival over the years and are already off the mark in Ireland this week. They have another strong hand on Thursday so let’s pick out three of their best chances and make sure you check out our free horse racing tips as we cover every race at the meeting.
Harry Derham already had a beautiful winner at Punchestown this week courtesy of Ascending Lark and the stable has another great chance in the opening 2m handicap hurdle with four-year-old Turn And Finish. He fell short in the Fred Winter but he finished second to the winner of that contest, Puturhandstogether, on his final start for Joseph O’Brien at Cork and looks really well handicapped here if he can put his best foot forward.
Keep Running is a front-runner who hails from the Warren Greatrex stable and if allowed a soft lead up front, he will be very dangerous indeed. The seven-year-old bolted up from the front at Ffos Las and Ludlow and the Ffos Las win can be marked up as he jumped to his right the whole way around. Big player here.
Bill Joyce could be worth another try after his fall at Aintree last time. He was well-backed for the handicap in Liverpool last time but we never got a chance to see how he’d fare. Prior to that, he ran with credit in Grade 1 and Grade 2 company so he could be nicely treated here in this sphere. There are several British raiders in the field but this boy strikes as one who has more in the locker.
