Aidan O’Brien has a good record in most of the top races but has done particularly well in Chester‘s Classic trials in recent years. He has won the Chester Vase six times and the Cheshire Oaks five times since 2014. Clearly that makes him the trainer to follow once again on Wednesday, as his record doesn’t lie. That’s why we’ve combined his two best chances in each race into a double which could be the play of the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Minnie Hauk (15/8, bet365) has had two starts to date and she showed significant promise when runner-up on debut at Cork in October. She kept on well to finish second over the mile but lacked the turn of foot that the winner possessed.
The daughter of Frankel managed to go one better at Leopardstown after that and there should be loads more to come over middle-distances at three. We haven’t seen the best of this filly just yet and it would be dangerous to rule her out.
Lambourn (7/4, bet365) looked booked for second place on debut at Killarney, before Green Triangle ran out and left him in the lead. O’Brien’s colt then followed up in a Listed race at Craon and did well to do so, as he had to overcome a very slow start.
He looked badly outpaced when upped to Group 2 level in the Beresford Stakes after that but he was always going to be a middle-distance sort. Much better when second to Delacroix at Leopardstown on seasonal debut, he’s likely to thrive over this trip.
