Ali Shuffle is unbeaten in two starts thus far and she managed to get the better of Argentine Tango under a penalty at Beverley. That rival, who is in opposition once again here, boosted the form by winning next time and Karl Burke’s filly is the one to beat.
Al Hussar clearly appreciated the switch to handicaps at the back end of last season and he has won two of his three starts in this sphere. Last seen winning at Southwell in October, a 4lb rise seems fair enough and he can win more races before the handicapper catches up.
That’s Amore really could be anything and she absolutely bolted up when making her debut at Newbury in October. Making all the running on heavy ground, she cruised clear to win by six lengths and the step up in grade looks very justified with that in mind.
Lambourn ran well to finish second to stablemate and well fancied Derby hope Delacroix in a Group 3 at Leopardstown first time out and he should improve significantly for the run. The extended 1m4f trip is likely to facilitate further progress and Aidan O’Brien has farmed this race in recent years.
Diligently has a lovely draw in stall one and he can use that to his advantage if breaking quickly here. Clive Cox’s colt was last seen winning a valuable sales race at York back in August and that evidence suggests he should be very competitive off this sort of mark.
Marnier was an eye-catcher when finishing third on debut in a decent race at Newbury, despite being slow to get going. The son of Saxon Warrior would have learnt plenty from that experience and this looks like a good opportunity to get off the mark.

Being just over a mile round, it’s one of the smallest tracks in the country and horses are on the turn throughout. Course form is vital and something we always look for when selecting our tips, nimble horses, in particular, do well here.
An extreme bias exists over five furlongs at Chester towards the low stalls which we have to consider for our tips, it’s even better if a low drawn horse is a front runner. There is less of a bias over longer distances, but you don’t want to be caught too far back as the straight is only just over a furlong.
The biggest race at the Roodee is the Chester Cup, one of the feature handicaps of the flat season. The track also hosts a brilliant May Festival, which includes the Group 2 Huxley Stakes.
