Bullet Point remains very lightly raced, especially in handicaps, and he was very progressive towards the back end of last season. Winning two of his three handicap starts to date, the first of those successes came in very good style at Newcastle in October.
He made all the running and was still a little keen out in front but won in the style of a smart horse, pulling four lengths clear of the second. The handicapper put him up 9lb for that performance, which looked more than fair when considering the visual evidence.
Haggas’ gelding made no mistake off that revised mark when returning to the turf to win over course and distance next time, where he got the better of Tribal Chief. A 6lb rise will make life harder but he has scope for further improvement and you wouldn’t want to rule that out.
Harper’s Ferry heads the market and he was last seen winning a competitive handicap at Doncaster in October. Tribal Chief might be in the mix again but the less exposed Bullet Point could have more up his sleeve.
