Tips for Lingfield Races

As well as having the well-known Lingfield All-Weather track, it also hosts both Flat and National Hunt racing on the turf. The grass is used a lot less than the artificial surface at the Surrey based venue, but still has it’s place in the calendar. When it comes to finding the best Lingfield tips around, our experts at myracing have you covered.

Course: A sharp, left-handed triangle of a mile and a half circuit is the Flat course. The ground tends to be a bit faster on the far rail so if our tips are front runners they can get a good position coming up the straight and horses have to pass on the often slower ground. There is also a 7 furlong straight track which is downhill all the way, very much suiting speedy horses for our tips.

The Chase course is a mile and 5 furlongs round, which is undulating and sharp. The hurdles track is slightly shorter than this. Soft ground can put more of an emphasis on stamina, but otherwise it can be a relatively easy course.

Draw Bias: There is a large bias towards high stall numbers on the straight track at Lingfield for our tips to consider.

Feature Races: Lingfield hosts both an Oaks and Derby Trial in May in preparation for the major Classics the following month. But the Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes over 7 furlongs in the same month is of higher grade, with Group 3 status.
